NL Integrated
Youth Services

Integrated Youth Services are scaling from one hub in St. John's to three connected hubs across the province.

INTEGRATED
YOUTH SERVICES

From health and wellness support to education and career guidance, Integrated Youth Services (IYS) hubs provide youth in need with access to essential services, all in one place.

In 2024, Choices for Youth announced their plans to develop two new IYS hubs throughout Newfoundland and Labrador in collaboration with the provincial government, NL Health Services, and philanthropic partners.

Newfoundland and Labrador needs Integrated Youth Services now more than ever.

In 2022, 72% of youth surveyed in NL reported their mental health was negatively impacted by COVID-19.

1 in 5 young people aged 15-29 reported they are experiencing mental illness or substance use challenges.

Approximately 20% of Canada’s homeless population are youth ages 13-24.

In Canada, an estimated 70% of mental health problems begin during childhood or adolescence.

Less than 25% of those youth are receiving appropriate services.

In St. John’s, the average age of a person’s first experience of homelessness is just 16.

65% of homeless youth in St. John’s concurrently need 4 or more services from public systems.
